After missing out on the FlashForward conference, I started looking around for other conferences and training available.
Nothing out there has caught my eye. It all seems bland and uninteresting next to FlashForward.
The more I look around, the more depressed I get that I’m not going to FlashForward. It looks exciting and interesting, and looked like there was lots of new stuff to learn. And this is the one time FlashForward’s in Boston, so probably missed my only chance to go for years.
Bleh. This is going to be a great week, the rest of the week I can be thinking about the fun things Adam and the others are doing at FlashForward, while I slog through bug fixes.
Hmm. Sounds like it sucks. What about that conference that you used to go to when you are in college? Could you go to that or wouldn’t you get it approved? I’m sure something interesting will crop up.
No, SIGGRAPH is usually in California, last year it was just in Boston as a fluke, kinda like FlashForward this year. Plus SIGGRAPH isn’t closely enough related to what I do at Staples for them to pay for it.
There are some Web Conferences coming up, but they are often 50% evangelism, and I’m already sold on (and using) the concepts. I want something new to learn, not cheerleaders.
That’s why I was excited about FlashForward, I could learn something new.
Plus now it’s kind of like going to a restaurant for filet mignon, only to discover they are all out. Sure, you could get the roast beef, or the baked haddock, but after gearing up for filet mignon, the other stuff seems uninteresting, even if it might be tasty.
